AI 101

  • Starting with the basics of Python language and statistics to establish core knowledge in the world of AI.
  • Learn to master the most cutting-edge data management and data analysis visualization platforms.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the six fundamental core algorithms of machine learning.
  • Master reinforcement learning and deep learning tools.
  • Through ten carefully designed projects, apply your knowledge in practice, combining hands-on experience with theory to lay a solid foundation for students’ future studies in artificial intelligence.

AI 101 mainly constructs the knowledge framework and foundation of artificial intelligence from scratch.

The content includes an overview of the development of artificial intelligence, an introduction to Python language and data science tools on Python, an introduction to statistics from the perspective of artificial intelligence, the six core algorithms of machine learning, an introduction to reinforcement learning and ChatGPT. The course will combine the teaching of basic knowledge with practical applications. After mastering the core knowledge in each class, students will apply it to practical topics. These topics are developed from real-world applications or cutting-edge scientific research problems.

Our Fall AI101 course is now live and open for registration! We warmly welcome everyone to join us on the following dates: 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, and 12/2.

Morning classes will be held from 9:00-12:00 (PDT) in person.

For those who can’t make it to the classroom or for any missed sessions, we will also be providing live streaming and recorded sessions for your convenience. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the exciting world of AI!

AI 102

  • Master the theory of neural network models and flexibly use the most cutting-edge deep learning model frameworks.
  • Deeply understand image processing and computer vision applications, and use convolutional neural networks to build image recognition model applications.
  • Through learning recurrent neural networks, understand the basics of language models, and develop natural language processing models.
  • Understand the transformer model, which is the foundation model of the most advanced AI application, ChatGPT.
  • Use adversarial neural network models to build original AI drawing applications

AI 102 is the follow-up course to AI 101. It will further guide everyone into the frontier models and algorithms of artificial intelligence.

This includes the ANN neural network model, the CNN convolutional neural network model (combined with image recognition algorithms and practical application development projects), the RNN recurrent neural network model (combined with GRU and LSTM to build time series prediction models and practical application development), the transformer model (which is the basis of the current cutting-edge GPT model), and generative models (withe the construction of generative image model applications).

AI 102 will lead everyone to understand the most cutting-edge artificial intelligence models and applications, and have the ability to flexibly use these models to build artificial intelligence applications.

Science Competition Program

Advanced Scientific Competition Project for Exceptional AI 101/AI 102 Students

This Advanced Scientific Competition Project is a groundbreaking research and practical initiative designed specifically for outstanding students who have successfully completed our AI 101 and AI 102 courses.

Directed and designed by leading scientists from the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, this project incorporates cutting-edge AI technologies and topics of significant academic relevance. Students will collaborate closely with their mentors to execute the project through team-based work, receiving valuable guidance in preparing for top-tier scientific competitions both within the United States and internationally.

In this project, students will gain the unique opportunity to immerse themselves fully in a leading-edge, real-world scientific topic, and participate in several national and international top-level science competitions. Further benefits include receiving a university application recommendation letter from their mentors.

Our dedicated team will also work closely with students’ university advisors and application teams, offering consultation services to ensure the students’ application strategies effectively highlight their significant accomplishments within the project. This comprehensive approach ensures our students are well-positioned for their future academic pursuits.

Research Program

Advanced Laboratory Research Project for AI 101/AI 102 and Scientific Competition Project Graduates

The Advanced Laboratory Research Project is an in-depth research initiative designed to further explore frontier AI research, specifically tailored for students who have completed both the AI 101/AI 102 courses and the Scientific Competition Project.

In this project, students will join Dr. Zhu’s laboratory as high school research assistants, participating in cutting-edge AI scientific research topics. They will engage in scientific collaborations following standardized research workflows to complete their projects and draft research papers.

Working in team-based research collaborations, students will not only complete their projects but also have the opportunity to publish their findings in competitive academic conferences or journals. Additionally, students will receive a university recommendation letter from their mentors.

Similar to our Scientific Competition Project, our team will continue to work closely with students’ university advisors and application teams. We will provide consultative services to ensure the students’ application strategies effectively spotlight their accomplishments within this project, positioning them favorably for their future academic pursuits.
